Chiefly letters received concerning the Alaska Territory, but also including copies of congressional legislation and other documents, reports, maps and plats, telegrams, petitions, newspaper clippings, proclamations, and railroad rate schedules. These were received from the Governor of Alaska and other Territorial officials, the President and members of the Cabinet, Members of Congress, the General Land Office, the Office of Education and the General Agent for Education in Alaska, the Geological Survey, and private individuals, usually businessmen.
